Musical Instruments
The "Bagpipes"
The "Bagpipes" is a woodwind instrument using enclosed reeds fed from a constant reservoir of air in the form of a bag. The instrument shown here is a "Practice Chanter".
I have no instrument of this type in our collection...yet...but have added this because of the interest of my grandson and his dad who have Scottish ancestry. The practice chanter shown is a gift for my grandson. The articles provided here are:
- The Bagpipes - WIKIPEDIA - an article describing the instrument.
- Great Highland Bagpipe - WIKIPEDIA - an article describing a type of bagpipe native to Scotland.
- Practice Chanter - WIKIPEDIA - an article describing an instrument for learning and practicing the fingerings for playing the bagpipes.
- Bagpipe Finger Position Charts - fingerings for the nine notes most commonly played on the Great Highland Bagpipe.
